When the sun is really burning and the thermometer climbs well over 30 degrees, we like to dream of delicious, creamy ice cream and a day at the sea. Nothing is more refreshing and really puts you in the summer mood, right?

Think about it: When things get really hot in the city, like at this year's Football World Cup, it gets really hot in our kitchen! You want to know why? Then we have the ultimate summer gourmet kick for you: calorie bombs like chips and the like make the World Cup period pretty unhealthy in the long run.

We prefer low-calorie, fruity - and especially spicy summer snacks. Sharp? Exactly. Spicy, aromatic foods in particular cool our bodies effectively. Hot spices contain capsaicin, which irritates the nerve endings that regulate the feeling of heat. When consumed, blood circulation is stimulated, we start to sweat and the body cools down. By the way, our body doesn't perceive spiciness as a taste, but rather as pain. And therefore releases endorphins, which then make us happy. Brilliant, right?

The secret classic mixture of different flakes makes our 3Bears Porridge creamy and wonderfully crunchy at the same time. By the way, our oat flakes come from the traditional Rubin mill in the Black Forest.

The really brave among you can top your oat meal with a pinch of cardamom as an extra spicy-sweet twist. The spice also works against nausea or fatigue in hot temperatures.

Extremely strong granola: Baked cereal flakes meet chili, pumpkin and apricot

Our all-day favorite snack is definitely the spicy pumpkin granola with plenty of crunchy seeds and nuts. In the summer we quickly chop up sinfully sweet apricot pieces. The small yellow fruits are true all-round talents that contain, among other things, provitamin A, bioactive substances (carotene), B1, B2, vitamin C and antibacterial salicylic acid. Apricots are fresh, healthy beauty aids to snack on and fit perfectly into our delicious, light granola.

You can also enjoy 3Bears Porridge spicy with this recipe. A fabulously aromatic creation made from various ingredients that quickly transforms into a savory pumpkin crunch with fresh apricot pieces in the oven. Snacking in summer is twice as much fun with a clear conscience! Because one serving of the granola only has 89 calories!

Ingredients

10 minutes | 1 glass of granola

Calories per serving: approx. 89 kcal

  • 50g 3Bears Porridge A hearty classic
  • 70g seed mixture (pumpkin seed, sesame, pine nuts, sunflower seeds)
  • 60g nuts of your choice (preferably cashews and peanuts)
  • 2 ripe apricots, cut into small pieces
  • 1-2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
  • 1 tsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp maple syrup
  • 2 tsp pumpkin seed oil
  • 1 pinch of cardamom, if desired

preparation

  1. Mix 3Bears porridge, kernel mixture and nuts in a large bowl.
  2. Mix the chilli flakes with salt, paprika powder, soy sauce, maple syrup, pumpkin seed oil and cardamom (if desired).
  3. Now mix the dry mixture with the dressing and spread generously on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
  4. Roast in the oven at 175 degrees for about 10 – 15 minutes.
  5. Allow to cool and then add the apricot pieces.
  6. The perfect snack for an evening with your friends or just the right brain food for in between!
